Aftermarket Auto Lights to Match Ultimate Driving Machine's High Standards

Aftermarket auto parts abound in the market nowadays, making it easier for anyone to upgrade, repair, customize, or refurbish his vehicle. Various kinds of replacement car, truck, and other auto parts and accessories can be easily bought and they are offered in very affordable deals not only for auto mechanics and retail store owners but most especially to individual do-it-yourself users who want to save in their repair needs. Even stock automotive parts of major European makes that used to be so hard to replace are now conveniently offered in thousands of auto parts stores online.

BMW Parts are among the most finely made car parts in the industry--parts that make a BMW the "Ultimate Driving Machine." That tagline isn't pure hype that's meant only to attract people; it's a statement based on BMW's almost century-old tradition of excellence in manufacturing aircraft engines, railway brakes and automobiles. It is only apt to replace stock BMW parts with equally high quality replacement or aftermarket BMW parts that could match this vehicle's performance. Exterior parts such as the auto lights, the wheels, the hood and other body parts require precision to be able to live up to BMW's perfect balance of form and function.

Now the good news is Auto Parts Discount is offering the most sophisticated aftermarket automotive lights for BMW cars and thousands of other BMW auto parts. Featured in the store are BMW parts such as auto headlights, taillights, fog lights, corner lights and clear altezza taillights made by top car parts manufacturers and are guaranteed superior quality. They are perfect ways to improve not only your car's safety but as well as its style. All BMW headlamps, taillights, and fog lights from this store are superbly designed to match every spec of your BMW, whether it's a BMW 3 series, BMW 4 series or BMW M roadster.

Why get aftermarket auto lights for your BMW? Aftermarket auto parts do not mean inferior. Some non-OEM auto lights may not meet high quality standards of your vehicle manufacturer but this is not true to all, especially when you are getting replacement parts from trusted BMW dealers like Auto Parts Wholesale. Here you are assured to get the most dependable products for your BMW ranging from BMW auto lights to wheel cover, radiator support, A/C condenser, tarter and a whole lot more.

Lights such as the headlamps, fog lights and tail lights are very essential in your vehicle so they must be durable and reliable enough to give you the long quality service. When driving through unfamiliar and dark places, driving without auto lights is like committing suicide, so make sure you are equipped with premium quality lights that could not only light up your way and make your car visible as you move down the road but could give you peace of mind no matter how bad the weather or the circumstances are.

Mechanic's Laptop Made Auto Manuals Archaic

Due to the extinction of carburetors and the evolution of electrical systems, the determination of auto parts faults demanded a new level of expertise and skills - in computers. Yes! Computers can do the excellent job. In fact, the new found technology rendered auto manuals archaic.

Donny Seyfer, a skilled mechanic, has been fixing cars for several decades using his internal database. But now, he has his laptop as his reliable ally in doing auto repairs. To make a living fixing the new generation of computer-controlled cars, Seyfer, 43, an expert in the field, had to become something like a technical wizard. He no longer needs wrench when a customer drives in with auto problems; he just needs a laptop.

Seyfer matched wits with the onboard computer of a 2006 Lincoln Zephyr. He also checked independent information services used by mechanics like Alldata, Identifix and the International Automotive Technician's Network. However, his queries were unanswered. He studied a repair Web site operated by the Ford Motor Company. Fortunately, he recalled the solution. "I remembered a similar model that you had to tell the computer whether it was front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive," Seyfer said. "I punched in that information and it cleared the codes."

As the modern time demands, auto mechanics should be equipped with expertise in diagnostic codes and web-based data-sharing. He should also be updated hence he must participate in online forums to keep up with the technology. The latest in EBC Active Brakes Direct, safety features and car systems must be known by the mechanics to repair the most difficult auto problems.

Patricia Serratore, group vice president for industry relations for the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence, said that the future should be bright for independent shops. She said there had always been a gap between the introduction of new technology and getting repair information to mechanics. "Years ago, when disc brakes came out, when fuel injection came out, there was the same kind of lag," she added.

Seyfer told a comparable story. He started fixing cars in 1983, just as devices like computer-controlled carburetors arrived. He shared, "It was doom and gloom. Independent shops aren't going to be able to fix anything."

Manufacturers charge independent shops for access to their Web sites. Charles Territo, the director of communications for the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers, an industry trade group, said, "Most automakers made access for a 24-hour period available for about $25. Subscriptions are also available for longer use." He added that manufacturers wanted independent shops to have access to the information as well. Territo also divulged that 70 to 80 percent of post-warranty repairs are performed by independent repairers.

Mike Brewster, owner of Gil's Garage in Burnt Hills, N.Y., has been paying subscription fees for independent services like Alldata, Mitchell's and Identifix. Said services usually cost $150 a month. Brewster will buy 24-hour access to a manufacturer's site only as needed. "It's just a part of the cost of doing business," Brewster said. "But having current information available is such a pleasure."

"The trend toward students who are adept at computers, math and reading has been going on for a number of years," Seyfer said. "Who would have thought you could use a laptop as a diagnostic tool? Now it's the first thing we whip out."

How to Get the Most From Your Car With Proper Automotive Care

For many of us, our car is a very important part of our lives. It gives us the freedom to travel, the ability to get around, and the convenience of being able to pick up and go whenever we please. You probably worked hard to save enough money to put a good-sized down payment on your vehicle when you bought it. Each month you have to keep covering the costs of insurance and your car payment. However, when your car needs auto care, the expense can hurt your budget. This is the reason why these tips for getting inexpensive automotive parts and auto repair tools can make a big difference in your month-end finances.

Save Money on Maintenance and Auto Repair Tools

If you have a minor repair such a maintenance problem, why not cut costs by doing it yourself? There are many "how-to" online tutorials and printed books that can show you step-by-step. The advantage to getting it done yourself is that you only have to pay for the parts; no labor costs are involved. At the repair facility, you're paying more for everything because they have specialized auto repair tools, plus, it can cost $65 or more per hour to have their employees do the work. If you aren't comfortable with doing any of these tasks yourself, ask your friends and family if they can help you out or if they know someone who can help at a low rate. Many friends and family are glad to help out and can be paid for their time with a six-pack or a pizza lunch; training schools offer ultra-low-cost repairs that really save you money.

Maintenance and Auto Care Don't Have to Cost an Arm and a Leg

Some other minor repairs necessitate special tools or expertise, but you can still do them. Take, for example, diagnosing an engine code, getting your rotors resurfaced, changing out your spark plugs, or rotating your tires. Local car engine parts stores often provide less-expensive diagnostic and resurfacing services than at the specialized repair shops. Engine error codes can be ambiguous and aggravating. In some states, auto parts suppliers have the tools to help diagnose problems on the spot. Nevertheless, some localities don't allow this, but the tool itself is offered for sale for around $200. It can cost $90 or so to have your dealer run a diagnostic test on your car's computer. But you can have this tool in your arsenal of auto repair tools for about what it would cost to visit the dealer twice!

Basic Maintenance and Auto Care Don't Have to Break the Bank

Rotor resurfacing can present challenges because they have to be "meaty" enough before they can be resurfaced. A minimal amount of rotor metal must be present so that they remain at a reliable thickness. Don't worry, however, because the resurfacing shops will tell you on the spot if they meet the thickness requirements. Additionally, they have the machine right there to get the job done. In an equally easy manner, spark plugs are available for purchase at the automotive care and supply store and the necessary gap is displayed clearly on the package. If you need a gapping tool, they are available for under $5. You can also rotate your own tires by using a standard jack.

Save yourself tons of money by doing your own maintenance on your automobile or truck. You can make your car last longer while making your dollars go even farther, while using the additional cash to get more time on the road!

Discount Auto Parts: Never Compromise on Authenticity

Blame it on the leniency of our governing class or credit it on the persistent endeavors of privately-held import firms, fact stays the same that the automobile segment has been majorly infiltrated by cheap imports during the last decade or so. The intrusion has made the task of finding reliable automotive parts an ordeal in itself. The problem is, imported parts are usually sold at unbelievably low prices, making them appear to be cost effective; unfortunately, unaware of the minimal lifespans cheap imports deliver, many of us fall for such deals and have to witness our money go down the drain.

With the cost of authentic spares going higher by the day, more people have started looking for discount auto parts to satiate the maintenance demands of their vehicles. However, when it comes to automotive parts, it is extremely important that you go for genuine replacements only, unless you wish to waste your hard earned money on rather useless cheap variants available in the market. Hence, no matter whether you need to buy Volvo parts or Toyota parts, always go for authentic spares. Unfortunately, the ridiculously low prices of cheap variants usually lure in most wishful buyers.

Contrary to popular belief, you can very well find discount auto parts without having to compromise on the quality or the authenticity of the parts to be bought. With the advent of e-commerce websites, retail businesses offering automotive parts have started migrating to the online platform for the cost effectiveness and scope it promises. Unlike conventional retail businesses requiring huge investments towards establishment and upkeep, starting and maintaining online retail businesses fall quite lightly on the pockets of the retailers, allowing them to offer authentic parts at lower prices than their ongoing rates in local markets.

Furthermore, buying the required parts online gives you the option to validate the authenticity of the auto parts being offered. Regardless of whether you are looking for discount deals on Volvo parts or Honda parts, by going the virtual way, you can read the reviews received by the parts you are contemplating to buy to get a fair idea about their authenticity. Thus, in addition to promising you unmatched value for your money, buying discount auto parts from the online market gives you a reliable way to ensure that you are buying genuine replacements. Hence, always refer to the reviews received by the seller before making any online purchase.

Is Auto Part Outsourcing in Reverse Gear Now?

Given the recent developments in the auto industry, it appears that the big car makers in the US are looking eastwards in search of markets.

The sales of automobiles during the month of June in the US is close to drop to an annual rate of 12.5 million units. This figure is about 15% less than last year's stats. Coinciding with these developments, the Big three manufacturers, namely GM, Ford and Chrysler would be exporting goods worth US$ 2.2 billion to China.

Why is China a promising destination?

Not to mention that the Chinese auto industry has it's own share of troubles, but it is still one of the most happening markets. According to a projection by Mckinsey, at present the country has the highest sales-growth rate for automobiles. Moreover, by 2010 it is expected to attain mammoth proportions and become the second largest market, just behind the USA.

There's little doubt about the fact that China's automobile production has been on the rise for years now.

Between the years 2001 to 2005, automobile consumption in the country experienced CAGR of 54.42%. While the consumption showed an increase, the real promise lies in the fact the country still had only 11 automobile units for every 1000, and that's a much smaller market penetration of vehicles compared to other countries. For instance, in 2007, UK had 373 cars per 1000, US had 478 cars per 1000, Australia 485 had cars per 1000, Japan had 395 cars per 1000 and Italy had 539 per 1000.

On the whole China seems to be a hot spot as far as the automobile industry is concerned. As far as the US is concerned, though there may be some differences between the two countries about investments, but as it is learned the high ranking U.S. and Chinese officials are working to smooth out even those.

Kia Auto Parts In The Forefront Of The Korean Auto Boom Wave

From a humble beginning as a maker of bicycles in Korea, Kia automobiles today prides itself in being one of the best automotive manufacturers in the world. It has achieved remarkable success as a maker of high-quality and affordable automobiles. Besides, Kia parts have proved their mettle as a dependable player in the aftermarket for replacement and maintenance.

The Korean automobile industry, as also Korean automakers, has achieved unusual success, even though the industry has been sandwiched between high-profile, high-priced Japan and newly emerging low-priced China.

Great Prospects In The Horizon For Korean Auto Parts Industry

Boom time is round the corner for the likes of Kia parts. Nearly 70 percent of U.S. buyers have shown their willingness to increase their purchases of South Korean once the Korean-US free trade agreement will come into effect. The free trade agreement once ratified by the legislature of both countries will almost completely eliminate tariff barriers and offer protection to multinational financial sectors and firms like Kia parts. The key reason cited by U.S. automakers is the price competitiveness of the parts and uncompromising strict quality requirements. Under the Free Trade Agreement signed in November 2010, the United States will immediately lift all tariff barriers from South Korean auto and gradually phase out tariff on South Korean automobiles. The makers of Kia parts are upbeat, as this agreement is expected to markedly improve sales to the United States in the coming years.

Why This Beeline to the Korean Industry?

To understand why America is making a beeline to Korea, you firstly need to have a glance at South Korea's automotive and auto industry. The Korean auto industry today is the fifth largest in the world in terms of production and sixth largest in terms of exports volume. Almost all makers, including Kia parts, are benefitting from this unprecedented surge in growth.

What Is The Reason?

We all know once Korean auto products were considered to be unreliable because they were mundane, cheap, and devoid of quality, but not anymore. Although considered to be inferior in the past, Korea has now shrugged off that second-rate image and has caught up with the best manufacturing standards in the world. This was a great leap forward for the Korean automobile industry. As the exports of makers like Kia automobiles surged ahead, so did the volumes of car parts. Not surprising, because companies like Kia parts were quick to adapt themselves to the changing conditions in the automobile industry. For example, Korean parts makers realized the singular advantage of being in close interaction with the automakers, which gave them a lead time of being quick in upgrading their products in terms of both quality and innovation.

Kia now have a niche market in the United States. This confidence has been driven no less by the popularity of Rio, the most affordable four-door sedan to the well-accepted compact SUV Sportage. Besides, Kia has always ensured that safety is of paramount importance, right from the design to the manufacturing stage.

Flyer printing allows you to promote your business and your products to people from all walks of life. Available in various sizes, flyer prints offer solutions to various marketing needs. But, the real deal in attracting people to your business lies in how compelling the design of your print is. Do not discount the element of persuasion in your copy. Aura And Outlook, Two New Saturn Vehicles

Thousands of car engineers and vehicle designers of the General Motor Corporation teamed up and worked as one to create two of the newest Saturn vehicles. And automobile experts now see these new ones to be quite promising. Saturn would soon be introducing the Saturn Aura and the Saturn Outlook.

The Saturn Aura took the spot that used to belong to the Saturn L series. It is a midsize vehicle built as a sedan. It uses the FF Epsilon platform. Engine choices for this vehicle include the 2.4 liter BAS hybrid engine, the 3.5 liter LZ4 V6 engine, and the 3.6 liter LY7 V6 engine. Its competition in the auto market would now include the Chrysler Sebring, Honda Accord, Nissan Altima, Volkswagen Passat, Mercury Milan, and the Toyota Camry.

Just like the Saturn Aura, the Saturn Outlook would be coming with quality designed Saturn auto parts. It is a crossover SUV crafted to its full size. The FF AWD Lambda has been used for its platform. The engine that it will use would be a 3.6 liter L LY7 V6 engine coupled with a six speed 6T70 automatic transmission system. The Dodge Durango, Nissan Armada, Ford Expedition, and Toyota Sequoia would be its competition once it is out in the market.

Experts in the automotive world find that these two new vehicles signal and shout out to be quite a good move for Saturn. In fact, it just shows that Saturn can make do without the usual type of style and design of General Motors that does not seem to keep up with the latest moves and trends in the market. These new vehicles can be considered as an oasis in the middle of the GM's desert of vehicles.

If Saturn continues this trend and sends vehicles like the Saturn Aura and the Saturn Outlook in the market, the brand is more likely to reap in more sales for the company.

Rising Popularity Of Korean Auto Parts For Local And International Brands

The surging popularity of Korean auto parts has catapulted the Korean auto industry to new heights. Through the years, Korea has emerged as one of the most advanced automobiles manufacturing nations in the world with respect to technology, design, and, most importantly, performance. It boasts of several in-house brands which have made a mark, both locally and internationally.

The Evolution Process

The evolution process of Korean auto parts and the automobile industry has been quite promising. Korea was initially just a place where auto parts were imported from Japan and the United States for assembling. The term "Korean auto parts" did not exist at all. It all started in the year 1955, when the first Korea-made engine was set up in a modified US jeep and took the shape of the first official Korean car.

Today Korean car parts and locally manufactured cars are popular brand names across the globe. The "Automobile Industry Promotion Policy" has prohibited foreign players from entering and operating in the Korean markets. This has provided ample opportunity to the Korean auto industry to spread its wings, without having to compete with the international players in the domestic markets. As a result, other companies which were involved in diverse businesses have entered the automobile field in search of profits.

Hyundai Pony was the first automobile to be fully developed in Korea, way back in the year 1975. It was also the first Korean car to be exported in the year 1976. By far, Hyundai is the most popular brand of Korean cars in the international automobile space. Today, Korea ranks fifth in terms of automobile production volumes and sixth in terms of volume of exports. The success of Korean auto parts, which have been responsible for creating world-class vehicles, is a well-established fact.

International Acclaim

Korean auto parts manufacturers have captured the fancies of international car manufacturers as well. Established auto giants like Volkswagen and General Motors have shown active interest in doing business with Korean manufacturers, for their upcoming models. This has paved the way for export fairs to be held with a handful of such prominent names that have shown the eagerness to get associated with auto components manufactured in Korea.

Even a country that is extremely obsessed with quality such as Japan has shown interest in importing automotive parts from Korea. Japanese are famous for being extremely particular about what they use in their products. The very fact that they are looking to get associated with Korean counterparts is a valid certification of the quality of automobile parts manufactured in Korea.

Therefore, Korean car parts have emerged as suitable alternatives for global car makers, which have helped them to achieve what they aspire, in terms of quality. An automobile mechanic in Korea is relentlessly striving to improve on quality as well as technology in order to maintain the goodwill Korea-manufactured auto components enjoy.

5 Places to Find Replacement Automotive Parts

Vehicle owners often find it hard to replace automotive parts for their disturbed vehicles. They constantly search for automobile parts to quick fix their auto problems. No matter whether you are any service provider, or a customer waiting for the repair of your vehicle or a car enthusiast, it is a tiring task to search for the right auto replacement part.

You may come across various automobile stores offering automobile parts that are not of standard quality. Many stores charge heavily on every single replacement part you buy. Many a time, you simply may not get the part, as the same might not be in stock. Hence, you need to locate other auto part stores that sell automotive replacement parts round the clock.

Different Spots:

1. Car dealership: When you want to change a specific automotive part of your vehicle, say the car's door handle, visit the car dealership first, from where you have bought the car. The dealer may have the required part in store, which may save time of searching somewhere else.

2. Retail stores: Before searching for automotive parts at distant places, it is better to look around the corner to locate a nearest store, which deals in auto parts. Franchisee stores make available the parts on cheaper rates and serve a variety of automobile replacement parts for their customers. These retail stores are usually engaged in selling generic auto accessories such as windshield wipers and oil filters.

3. Avail car club membership: If you own a classic car, it is better to join any car club for replacement of its auto parts. You may not get the parts easily on the market other than the car club for classic cars. General auto stores do not keep stock of old parts. The car club provides the members with many resources for replaceable parts of classic automobiles. Here, you may reach the right person, who uses the same classic car as yours through the car club membership for further information.

4. Internet: You may even search for replacement parts on the Internet. Many web sites offer old and new auto parts. You may browse through a variety of auto parts to find the right replacement part. You need to be cautious, while placing bulk order for auto parts, since you are not aware of the dealer's market status. Chances are the online dealer may deceive you. Also, check whether the parts serve you a warranty or not.

5. Salvage Yard: When you find it difficult to purchase the auto parts from a store, you may try visiting the auto salvage yards. The junkyards offer auto replacement parts at a lower cost and if lucky, you may even come across the right part over there. Here too, take some precautions.

Conclusion:

If you are still unable to find the required automotive replacement part, you are searching for, ask people who possess a vehicle since a long time. You may post an ad in the newspapers seeking information on auto replacement parts.

Some parts that are critical for your car's engine pose a heavy risk to the vehicle, if you use a used part in its place to make up for the deficit, so watch be careful.

Consumers Negligence Causes Auto Part Disorder - Car Care Council

The Car Care Council (CCC) reported on January 11 this year that results of vehicle check-up events during Car Care Aware Fairs across the US in April and October 2006 revealed that consumer negligence is the main cause auto part disorders.

According to them, nearly 9 out of 10 vehicles need service or parts, underscoring the huge untapped DIY and DIFM sales opportunities for the automotive aftermarket. The unsatisfactory condition of vehicles also reinforces the continued need for consumer education about the benefits of regular vehicle care, maintenance and repair.

Car Care Council Executive Director Rich White said "Vehicle check-up events are typically the focus of Car Care Aware Fairs sponsored by repair shops, parts stores, distributors in cooperation with local vocational schools, media, civic groups and others. While these events are free to consumers and serve as community-relations builders, most aftermarket businesses who participate experience an increase in sales and customers as a result."

In an analysis of nearly 1,000 vehicle inspection forms, submitted from event coordinators in 16 states, results showed 88 percent of the vehicles checked during National Car Care Month in April and Fall Car Care Month in October needed parts replacement, service or fluids. The top problem areas were motor oil, windshield wipers, air filters, belts and hoses and lights.

Upon checking lubricants and fluids, the three top failure rates were: low, overfull or dirty motor oil at 30 percent, inadequate washer fluid levels at 28 percent, and low, leaky or dirty coolant at 28 percent. Transmission, brake, power steering and clutch fluids were also checked and had failure rates of 26 percent and below.

Approximately 15 percent of vehicles had front windshield wiper failures and 9 percent needed service to rear wipers.

At least one belt was reported as unsatisfactory in 22 percent of the vehicles inspected and 14 percent required at least one new hose. New air filters were needed in 25 percent of the vehicles, while 8 percent needed new PVC filters. The "check engine" light was on in 8 percent of the vehicles.

Battery cables, clamps and terminals needed maintenance in 17 percent of the vehicles inspected, while 9 percent of the batteries were not properly held down. Eleven percent had either a green, dark or clear/yellow charge indicator light.

Improperly inflated tires were found on 20 percent of the cars and 11 percent had worn tread and were in need of replacement.

The leading failure rates for vehicle lights/vision were license plate lights at 18 percent, brake lights at 10 percent, and side markers at 8 percent.
Clutch parts were also among the top failure rates. And like any other auto part, can be maintained by car owners. Poor maintenance of the gearbox clutch and worm shaft assembly can increase machine cycling, resulting in costly repairs and pinsetter downtime. The gearbox clutch should be disassembled and checked once a year for worn facings, bad bearings, worn clutch shoes and proper lubrication. The worm shaft splines should also be checked for wear and proper lubrication. Checking them regularly should also be a great time to fix any oil leaks coming from bad gaskets or worm shaft assembly seals.

Learn to Speak Auto Designers' Lingo

When you go to auto shows, you do not use dashboard to mean the vehicle's instrument panel. This is because you might be misleading other people. Dropping layman's terms is easy but you will get plus points if you speak the designer's tongue.

Each profession has its lingo. And for one to be better understood he must know the common terms or at least a few of the most colorful words used by experts. In the automotive world, metal and words unite. And auto brand's vocabulary is known as the colorful realm of design language.

The beltline separates the greenhouse, or glassed-in upper body, from the part that widens down from the window sills. Michael Castiglione, the principal exterior designer at DaimlerChrysler's Pacifica studio in Carlsbad, Calif., said that equally important is the A-line. The A-line is the length of the vehicle's body from headlight to taillight. The vehicle may also have a crease created in the sheet metal of the sides called the character line.

Styling cues are also used to prompt recognition of a particular model to other product lines of the same brand. The cues include the curve of the roofline, the distinct design of the grille, as well as the shapes and lines of the vehicle.

The angle of the windshield called rake could convey different meaning. It is said to be fast when it extremely tilts. The rocker panel which is the body section below the base of the door is treated with a varying degree of turn-under. Chris Chapman of BMW's Designworks studio in Newbury Park, Calif., defines it as the shape of the panel as it curves inward at the lower edge.

Stance tells you whether the auto sits on the wheels with superb energy or not. Robert Boniface, the director of advanced design for General Motors, recently worked on the Chevrolet Volt and the Camaro show cars. He said that "stance has to do with the relative visual stability or instability of a particular design."

According to Bryan Thompson, the designer at the Nissan Design America studio in La Jolla, Calif., another essential relationship is that one found between the glass and the body. "A vehicle whose body is relatively thick compared to the amount of glass is called chunky. The proportion between wheel and body sizes is important in lending a vehicle its visual personality," he said.

Thompson added, "Wheel-to-body is the relationship of the wheel-tire plane to the sheet metal wheel opening. Wheels that are flush to the body are desirable. Wheels that are well inboard of the sheet metal plane are buried. Vehicles with buried wheels are called overbodied. At its extreme, an overbodied car has the look of a parade float, with the body visually overpowering the wheels."

Peter Davis, the director of interior design at General Motors, said the space between wheel and surrounding fender or wheel well suggests the jounce of the car. The intervening space between tire and wheel well is sometimes called the dead cat hole. He described the British-sounding mucketts as "complicated rubber moldings that hide nasty window-door frame areas or direct water drips to appropriate places." "In Italy," he added, "what we call the plenum, the area at the base of the windshield where the wipers sit and run off is directed is called the vasca di pesce, or fish bowl."

Another term to define the personality of the car is its axle-to-dash ratio, the proportion between the front wheel and the cowl or the base of the windshield. There is also what is dubbed the roller skate effect. It happens when the tires and wheels are too small for the body.

There are so many terms in the auto industry realm. And it is an edge on your part to know them all. The next time you purchase EBC Greenstuff or other auto parts, you will not be surprised to hear those terms.

Shopping for Auto Parts and the Benefits of Recycled Ones

If you're not a mechanic or mechanically knowledgeable, you often do not know a thing or two about the installation and repair of car parts. Unfortunately, when you drive your own car, the time will come when you need to discuss these issues. As a customer, you often stumble upon the fact that it will really cost you quite a bit just to have some parts of your car replaced or fixed by your nominated professional mechanic.

Shopping for Beginners

Even with little or no knowledge about car repair, you must bear in mind that some car repairs are simple do-it-yourself tasks that are very easy if done by yourself. To improve your mechanic skills, you first need to do a research of what part you want to buy. There are many online shops where you can easily spot amazing deals. This is easier for most consumers as they can already see what they're buying online and there are also extensive reviews made for most products posted at online shopping centers.

All you need to know is learn about your vehicle, new car terminologies, and product availability and specifications. Know more than just the model of your car but also its year and version since different versions may have different automotive parts. Search for the most commonly used terminologies online. If you're not familiar with a given term then ask your mechanic about it. For newer cars, their parts may not be made immediately available in most stores. In this case, proceed to your nearest car dealers or check for your car's warranty policy. Lastly, make sure to double-check the part you ordered for its specifics. Some parts may not fit it in to your car just because they have a different number.

Recycled Parts

Do not underestimate the quality and power of recycled parts. There are a lot of recyclers around compared to what you originally thought. In North America alone, there are over 4 million cars being recycled each year. Almost always, the prices of recycled parts are very cost-effective that new parts are finding them hard to compete. Parts obtained particularly from recycling yards are very cheap because most car insurers automatically send-off their used cars directly to the recyclers as it will cost them much less. To add, buying recycled parts slows down pollution emissions attributed to the manufacturing of new parts. It also frees up landfill space. When you recycle used or wrecked vehicle, you need less oil compared to when you actually make them.

This is a win-win situation for many sectors. First, it is a benefit to the environment. Second, it is cost-efficient for most car owners who are shopping for new part replacements. Third, it is cost efficient for car insurers. Lastly, it pumps up business in the recycling industry. The only challenge left for consumers is how they can hunt for recycled parts with the best preserved re-use quality. This is where the expert mechanics steps in for they can best assess the quality of a car part. Recyclers themselves can also determine which part is still good as new. They can even give warranties for the used auto parts they sell.

Insist on OEM Auto Body Parts

One of the easiest ways to get ripped off in the automotive world is by having a body shop use cheap, third-party auto body parts on your car repair. Like all auto parts, body parts have a tremendous markup, and if you don't know what you are doing, it can be easy to be taken advantage of by unscrupulous repair centers. Insisting on using OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) parts will secure that your repair job comes off perfectly, and you wind up with a vehicle that is "as good as new."

Unfortunately, fender-benders and accidents can happen, and at these times car owners can become understandably flustered and confused. The entire process of dealing with insurance companies, filing police reports, and seeking estimates from body shops can be a bit overwhelming. It's not surprising then, that many people just want to put the entire experience behind them, and they rush through the process of having their auto repaired.

But this can be a big mistake in several ways. For example, unless you specify the type of parts you would like to use on your repair, and are prepared to oversee the repair to make sure it is to your satisfaction, many body shops will use cheap, third world quality replacement auto body parts, lowering the value of your vehicle.

Why would a body shop knowingly do this? As usual, the answer comes down to money. If your insurance company reimburses the auto shop $2000 for the job, and they can buy a cheap "knock off" auto body parts for one third the cost of standard quality parts, this results in a great deal of profit to the body shop!

But while this may be wonderful for the body shop's bottom line, it is terrible for the car owner. You can easily wind up with substandard auto body parts on your car, or even parts that do not fit perfectly.

Of course, the best way to avoid all this is to use OEM car parts. You never have to concern yourself about either the quality or the fit of your auto body parts if you insist upon OEM. And if a body shop mechanic should attempt to talk you out of using OEM body parts, you should be very skeptical. The odds are, they are simply trying to lower their expenses in order to increase profits. Don't fall for it!

Other times, body shop mechanics will ensure you that they only use OEM body parts, but you still need to be diligent and examine the final work. Unfortunately, somebody shops will claim to use only OEM parts, but in reality they are substituting cheaper "knock offs" that wind up on your car. Besides being unethical and disreputable, this is also illegal and it is called fraud. If you discover a body shop misrepresenting the parts they are selling you, it is recommended that you contact both the police and the Better Business Bureau.

In general though, most body shops will gladly use OEM parts when requested. If you have any doubt about the reputation of the body shop, be sure to also get it in writing. That way you will have documentation if it should be needed to prove fraud or other wrongdoing in the future.

Insisting upon OEM auto body parts for your car repair will ensure your vehicle is returned to you in "factory new" condition.

Shopping For Auto Parts Online

Indeed, there are several reasons that buying auto parts online is a good idea. You will certainly find the specific auto parts that you are looking for online. Getting your parts online is not only easier but also can be much cheaper than buying offline. Shop for auto parts online in the middle of the night or after normal store hours. In fact, the product you are searching for may be difficult to find, depending on what you are looking for.

However, there are several auto parts stores online that focus on specialty parts for your car, truck, and van that most dealerships can not offer you. But ordering online is often more convenient and less of a wait to get what you need. When you buy auto parts online this is rarely the case. Sometimes, these orders are made all at once because many customers come searching for parts that the dealerships do not carry on site.

This robs you of time and can be very frustrating especially if you would like your auto parts shipped right away. Therefore order online and avoid the inconvenience. Even though dealerships can order for you but then buying parts online offers more options for shipping. Well, this is not the case if you buy online. Often websites that sell auto parts will have several shipping options available to you including overnight shipping.

Most dealerships often advertise their discount prices on new or used auto parts by newspapers, magazines or commercials. However, buying online is often even less expensive than the dealerships special offers that come around from time to time. The prices for auto parts at several websites are better than the prices you will pay buying your parts anywhere else. So save yourself some cash by getting auto parts or auto accessories online.

Whether you have a major project and you are seeking to buy parts for rebuilding an antique automobile or older vehicle, or if you simply want to install a new multi disk CD player offered as a special feature for your car, do not give yourself unnecessary headaches, life has too many of those laid out for us already, so solve your car shopping problems by shopping online. Top of the line products from all makes and models of every car on the market can be found when you shop online for auto parts. Especially when dealing with a relatively new car, buying your car parts online is the absolute best way to go.

Most people just go back to the dealership, but if your warranty is up, you are out of luck and will be charged the dealers prices and installation if you try to buy there. But by that time, they have usually suckered you into having them order the auto parts you need. As far as purchasing your auto accessories from an online store, there are many benefits to doing so and you can bet that the majority of people who already complete their auto repairs themselves realize that shopping for auto parts on the internet is now the norm.

Even though the only thing that you must wait for if you are going to buy online is the shipping and waiting part, the online method is still definitely quicker. However, with online services you are able to purchase and have it shipped next day. The reason that automotive parts are usually less expensive than going through a retailer is because the online stores will usually be the first person in the chain that has the part that you need.

On the other hand, chances are that the website that you are buying from will be able to get their products direct or their fees may be reduced simply because they are an online store. When considering that you are able to purchase from an online store a whole lot easier, faster, and less expensive than traditional retail stores, you can see why there are many people who are already engaging in this practice.

The best thing about shopping online for auto parts is that you can find exactly what you are looking for without leaving the comfort of your home. Most people are selling through sites that do not actually demand nearly the operating cost that the store does. Today with the correct words written into the search engine you will be able to discover entire sites catering for your auto needs.

There are thousands of small dealers selling parts on the web now. There are also a few dozen huge auto parts warehouses with online sales pages. Among the smaller dealers you have to be careful because many do not have a lot of actual knowledge about what they are selling. Also many other apparent dealers are really just sales pages that run through drop shippers.

So, spend some time looking over any auto parts sales pages for signs of professionalism and experience before making any purchase. One of the things to pay attention to when shopping online is how much detailed information a company supplies about the product. Search for warranty information, especially if you are buying used auto parts. The most important things you can do to protect yourself when dealing with a new seller online is making sure you use a credit card for your purchase.

Nevertheless, buying auto parts online is a great way to overcome purchasing obstacles. It allows you access to many different dealers who can ship the items to your door no matter where they may be located. As of today and with the right words typed into the search engine, you can find entire sites catering to your auto parts needs or any other auto accessory that you are searching for. It is absolutely clear that buying your online is safe, easy, effective and also will save you a lot of money as well.

Auto Parts Can Cost You Big

Auto parts. Something we really don't think much about. We buy our nice shiny new Honda or Jeep or Lexus or whatever and pray that it runs forever with no problems. And then if there is a problem we hope that the repair isn't too expensive and that the parts can be found with relative ease.

Welcome to the REAL world.

Auto parts sales is one of the largest industries in the world. Makes sense since almost everyone in the world has an automobile except maybe in underdeveloped countries. Some auto parts wear out rather quickly such as oil filters. Some last a little longer like brake shoes and pads. And then you have parts that thank goodness don't wear out very often at all like transmissions or cars would be impossible to maintain cost wise.

But there is more to an auto part than just the part itself. The make and model and year of your car will have a great impact on how much the part will cost to replace and how easy the part is to get.

Let us start with ease of obtaining. Obviously newer car parts will be easier to get than older ones. A friend of mine still has a 1975 Pontiac Lemans. To obtain parts for this car he has to literally go to junk yards and even online. No new car dealers keep parts beyond 10 years or so and even auto parts stores limit their inventory to cars under 20 years. A 30 year old vehicle is almost impossible to find parts for. Plus, if you can find the part, depending on where you get it, the cost could be anywhere from 20 to 100% over the original part cost. To say that late model car owners are taken advantage of would be a gross understatement.

But ease of obtaining is not just limited to the age of the car. Vehicles with a limited production are also hard to get parts for, especially if the vehicle is not a big seller. The reason for this is again obvious. Keeping inventory that is not going to be sold is expensive. So auto parts dealers keep limited supplies for these vehicles.

As for the price of auto parts, aside from the age of the vehicle there is the make and model. In this case foreign car parts are much more expensive than domestically made cars. Most people who buy foreign cars don't realize this or even think about it until it comes time to get their vehicle repaired. Then they get hit with the bill and their eyes pop out of their head. For example, an oil filer for a 2005 Buick Century is about $2.98. The same oil filter for a Honda CRV is $3.98. It's basically the same filter for the Honda but it costs $1.00 more. That comes out to a 33% markup on a relatively cheap part. Imagine that same 33% markup on a part that costs $60 for the Buick. You'd be paying about $80 for the same part for the Honda.

The best way to get the best price for auto parts is to shop around. Look on the Internet. Go to auto parts auctions. Go to junk yards, though you don't want a used part for something critical like an engine. Some things like door handles and non functional items like those are fine. Most likely they won't go bad for a while. But for items that keep your car running, if you can afford it, it is best to get new.

Auto parts is big business. Just don't get caught up in the money pit it can land you in.

Skoda Auto: The Story of the Ugly Duckling

It is no secret that the Czech Republic's biggest car maker Skoda Auto has been in the past - a laughing stock in the automotive world. But things are finally turning around for the automaker and right now it has become a profit producing force for its owner Volkswagen.

The Czech Republic's biggest car maker is also planning to open up new markets in China, India, and Russia. Skoda Auto was bought by Volkswagen in the year 1991 and become one of the forces behind the latter's global force. And as part of Europe's largest automaker, Skoda Auto makes use of quality Volkswagen auto parts for its production like the popular Volkswagen spark plug wires.

Skoda Auto was able to record net profits for the last week of 2006 totaling to 11.06 billion koruna or 392 million euros (515 million dollars). It obtained a 40% increase as compared to its earnings in the previous year.

Skoda Auto's production also increased by 12.6 percent or 556,347 units with successful deliveries of up 11.7 percent resulting to an overall sales increase of 8.7 percent to 203.7 billion koruna. For this year, Europe's largest automaker Volkswagen owner of Skoda is expecting for it to produce more than 600,000 cars.

According to Marc-Rene Tonn an analyst from German bank MM Warburg and Co., "Skoda is an extremely profitable part of the Volkswagen Group." He also stressed that about one in every 10 Volkswagen Group cars are produced in the Czech Republic especially those sold in the year 2005. This was seconded by Stephen Pope, a London-based analyst with financial services group Cantor Fitzgerald Europe, "Volkswagen will rely heavily on Audi and Skoda during this current period." Since he said that the Europe's largest automaker is currently struggling with an ageing range of models and it needs new launches to revive it. "The whole new image of Skoda has changed. It is no longer taken as a joke and is now seen as a pure derivative of Volkswagen, but much more reasonably priced."

Pope also added that this simply shows the remarkable development that Skoda Auto has achieved under the management of Volkswagen for the past 15 years as part of the VW Group. Praises also to Volkswagen for being steadfast in its decision not to scrap the Skoda brand in spite of the not so good image that the brand has in Western Europe (DaimlerChrysler could used some advice from Volkswagen).

The turning of the Skoda into one of Volkswagen's flagship producer of reasonably priced reliable cars just goes to show the effective management style that Europe's largest automaker have. And today, Volkswagen is leading Skoda to become its low-cost spearhead into the booming economies of China, India, and Russia without damaging along the way it attempts to target a more prestige market.

Pope also said that "Skoda will be designated as the entry level car with the premium part of the market left for Volkswagen."

The boss of Skoda Detlef Wittig has announced last week the company's goal of producing low-cost car for the Asian market, mentioning also that the company plans of opening up markets in India, Russia, and China. The low-cost Fabia and the top-of-the-range Superb are scheduled to be produced for China in partnership with Shanghai Volkswagen. Likewise, launches production of the mid-range Octavia model are set for China this year.

The Czech automaker has already car assembly and production projects in Ukraine, Russia, Kazakhstan, Bosnia, and India. Current models lined up for production includes the mid-range Roomster which will complete the current four model range and the three-door sporty vehicle called the Skoda Joyster which is designed for young buyers.

Buying Truck Parts Or Accessories Online

Maybe you have a truck that needs a new transmission. Maybe you're trying to restore an older truck to its previous condition. Maybe you've been having a hard time finding the automotive parts you need for your particular vehicle through your local sources. No matter what your situation you might want to consider looking for the items you need via the Internet.

Good Reasons

Although the Internet may not be the traditional place to go if you're in need of auto parts, it can provide you with more resources so you are more likely to find what you need. Local auto parts stores can only contain a limited supply of items. Their warehouse space is limited, and they need to provide the parts which are going to be required by the largest number of people. That might mean you're just going to be out of luck if you're looking for a foreign model part or for older truck parts that simply aren't in great demand any more.

When you go online, however, you'll be able to find web sites that offer huge selections of these parts so that you can more easily find whatever it is you need with little problem. In many cases, you might even find a lower price because of the reduced overhead associated with running an online store versus a traditional brick and mortar venue.

Other Issues

If you're using the Internet, you'll also have more control over the part you choose and can shop around more for a good price. If you go into an truck parts store and ask for a part, generally you're going to buy that part even if you end up paying a hefty mark-up over what you might have spend at another location. With the Internet, you know how much the part is going to cost and can easily decide not to complete the purchase.

Choosing a Site

There are number of online resources available on the internet that can help you in finding auto parts of your choice from a wide range of products available. You just need to pick right web store that can provide you with quality products at right price and with good service.

Pune Auto Industry Driving Towards Recovery Lane

After witnessing a lean phase for over 9 months, the Pune auto component industry is now gradually showing signs of recovery. The mood among the SME auto part makers, which was once grim, is now turning upbeat as demand in the domestic market has started picking up.

Following the start of the current financial year, orders have once again started pouring in for small-scale automotive equipment players, thereby offering them a new lease of life.

Positive turnaround

More than 4,500 SMEs operating in the automotive and engineering verticals in and around Pune city are now heaving a collective sigh of relief thanks to the resurgence in auto parts demand.

As a direct consequence of the recent surge in sales and increase in orders, capacity utilisation by SME units has also risen significantly, climbing to nearly 70% over the last 3 months.

"A few months back, several auto ancillary units in Pimpri-Chinchwad, Talegaon, Pune, Bhosari and Chakan among others had to reduce their output levels and lay off a large number of their employees in the wake of sluggish demand both on the global and domestic front. However, as the scenario is improving, the SME auto part makers are once again witnessing a rise in capacity utilisation of up to 70%," said N Patil, proprietor of Sudal Industries, an auto component supplying unit in Pune.

The sudden spurt in demand has also provided a boost to the small-scale units engaged in vehicle engineering, prototypes, automation, robotics and material handling services.

"We are witnessing increased inquiries as a result of the recent push in the sales of vehicles seen in the domestic market. New orders by domestic auto companies are being placed, thereby prompting SMEs to work at full capacity," said N Bhave, MD, AUTOMAG India in Pune.

Though the demand has gone up in the recent past, bringing cheer to the Auto Parts Manufacturers hub in Pune, it would still take some time for the global auto market to recover fully.

How to Repair a Scratch on Your Car - Paint Repair and Auto Spray Painting

Car scratches eventually appear in a way of almost every car owner. There are many methods of dealing with them however painting it over with an auto spray gives the best result. If you have enough experience you will be able to paint over even a big scratch but a beginner also can manage to repair imperfections on his vehicle. Here are the steps to follow:

First, it is necessary to clean metal from dirt and rust. Dirt is removed by washing the panel with soapy water. When dry, sand out the scratch and surrounding area with sandpaper. Then you need to apply putty on a surface. It should consist of two components (with a hardener). Do not choose epoxy putty otherwise, it will dry for 24 hours. Use rubber or thin metal pallet for alignment.

It will take 20 minutes to dry up with a temperature of 200C (392F). At this stage, you may also use auto filler primer that is specially designed to fill scratches and imperfections and perfectly replaces putty. It can be found in auto stores but if you are after budget repair - putty will work just fine.

Next step, condition the surface with sandpaper of different calibers starting with sharp and then moving to a fine one. The panel should be ideally smooth to the touch. To make it this way use ultrafine 2000-3000 grit sandpaper and running water.

Now it is time to apply a primer. When primer layer is dry, you can start painting. To make sure the colour will match your car, enamel should be selected under number specified in the service book of the car. If you will paint your car in garage, take care that dust and moisture in it would be as little as possible otherwise fine motes will definitely get on a fresh paint.

Use masking tape and thick paper to cover parts that are not going to be painted. Make several light applications of a spray paint on a surface. Paint is put in two layers. First - thin, second - thicker. Time interval before applying second layer is 6 to 8 minutes. Average time of drying is about 2 hours, and full fixing of paint takes 24 hours.

When paint is dry, you can remove paper and masking tape. If you notice some imperfections such as drips or rough edges, you can fix it using ultrafine sandpaper. When finished apply a top coat over the painted surface and let it dry. There is no scratch anymore!

How To Find Parts And Accessories For Your Volkswagen Jetta

The Volkswagen Jetta has been the corporation's fastest selling model on the American Market, as it captivates the American consumer more than it does the European ones. Its continued growth and appeal is tied almost directly to the all-important American automobile market.

Throughout Volkswagen's 50 years in the US it has consistently caught the attention of every type of American consumer; the young, the old, the man, the woman, the rich and the not so rich. Even though VW had a few slips in performance and availability, it has still captured and held the attention of the American driver; much to the chagrin of its rivals.

The Jetta's completely recreated frame and body now features a longer wheelbase, wider stance, chrome-framed grille in front, and is, undeniably, the new face of VW. Chrome is a recurring feature of the Jetta. Chrome is also employed in the making of the eyebrows above the engine's air inlets, and on similar models for their side-window surrounds.

There are many stores that can be found online that specialize in Volkswagen parts, including the Jetta's grille. Since they specialize in the parts, they never compromise the caliber of the Jetta grille and promises that any Jetta part you purchase will be of the highest quality, meeting the Volkswagen standards for quality every time. You need not worry that this quality comes with a hefty price tag. These web stores offer these Jetta parts for the lowest prices and are just a click on the mouse away.

The Volkswagen Jetta's most appealing attribute is the prominent thrust and slope of the car's snout. The headlights, inlets, and grilles are all blended into the Jetta's raked rear flow. At the Jetta's rear, is a multi-link independent suspension, which greatly enhances the ride and the driver's control on the road. Jetta's steering is power assisted. This assistance is electro-mechanical, not hydraulic as some would think.

If you're in the market for Jetta's headlights and suspension, online automotive stores feature high caliber parts at low prices. They can assure you that purchasing from them will guarantee 100% customer satisfaction. By using these stores to supply you with your Volkswagen needs, you can experience excellent service staff and easy shopping for your replacement Jetta parts. Since they specialize in these parts, they offer a Jetta suspension that is the best on the market, unlike the suspension systems that some auto parts dealers would try to pawn off on you.

The Volkswagen Jetta is well known for being the most economically priced of the European sedans in America. This status has remained unchanged even after the release of the 2005 model. By using an online store that specializes in Volkswagen parts, you can be assured that the Jetta parts you want are in stock, will be shipped quickly if ordered from the online store, and are perfectly priced for your pocketbook.

Why Chinese Auto Parts Stocks Could Be Valuable

The invasion has begun and there's nothing we can do about it. If I were an auto parts manufacturer in North American, I'd be concerned.

In early February, I wrote about an auto parts manufacturer in this column that's planning a major global expansion. The company recently announced its first sales order in the North American market.

Based in Jinzhou City, Liaoning, China, Wonder Auto Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ/WATG) operates through a number of subsidiaries that design and manufacture automotive electrical parts and suspension components. In 2006, the company ranked second in sales of automotive alternators and starters in the China market.

Wonder Auto Technology currently sells five different series and over 150 models of alternators, 70 models of starters and various suspension-related parts, supplying a number of auto makers, engine producers and auto parts suppliers in China and abroad. Some of the company's customers include Beijing Hyundai Motor Company, Shenyang Aerospace Mitsubishi Motors Engine Manufacturing Co., Ltd., Harbin Dongan Automotive Engine Manufacturing Co., Ltd., and Tianjin FAW Xiali Automotive Co., Ltd.

Recently, Wonder Auto Technology opened an office in Detroit and hired a former executive from Delphi. The company just reported that one of its subsidiaries, Jinzhou Halla Electrical Equipment Co., Ltd., received a four-year supply agreement for its starter and alternator products from a major North American OEM automotive manufacturer. The company didn't offer the name of the customer.

All of the units will be delivered directly to the customer's facility in North America and the total value of the contracts is expected to be over thirteen and a half million dollars. Now, this is a small order by any measure, but I think it's the beginning of a major offensive by this company to penetrate the domestic auto parts business.

The Chinese are about to invade the domestic auto parts business and, to be blunt, I'd much rather be an investor than a competitor in that industry.
